카메라 트랩: 쉽게 설치할 수 있는 카메라. 요즘은 에이아이가 무슨 동물인지, 개체수가 얼마나 되는지를 찍힌 이미지를 다 분석해서 데이터화 해 줌. 이것 때문에 자연 다큐멘터리의 새바람이 불고 있다고.

1. 카메라 트랩으로 봤더니 후쿠시마에 다양한 동물과 식생이 번성하고 있음.

2. 방사능수치는 여전히 인간에게 위험. 하지만 카메라 트랩은 엄청난 이미지수를 낭만화해서 보여주기 때문에 마치 인간의 손이 닿지 않는 원시적인 청정한 자연을 보여주는 것처럼 착각할 수 있음. 봉사활동을 독려하는 이미지가 될 수 있음.

3. 카메라 트랩은 방사성 수치를 분석하는 미시 단위가 아니라 이미지라는 고레벨의 접근

4. 데이터 분석이 관건. 모든 것이 추상화되고 관리됨.(찍힌 이미지가 너무 많기 떄문에)

5. 카메라 트랩은 인간이 통제하지만 그 상호작용 회로를 비인간에게 열어주면 어떻게 될까?

6. 동물이 카메라를 건드리고 무의식적으로 셀피를 찍을 수도 있음

7. 흔들리고 쓸모없는 이미지(bycatch)는 자동으로 카메라 트랩이 지우는 데, 이게 중요함. 바이캐치는 매끈하게 보여주는 이미지가 아니라 야생동물이 struggle하고 있단 증거. 바이케치에는 미확인된 종이나 그런 것들이 포함되어 있을 수 있음.

"These scenarios of comaking, culled from the imaginary of the bycatch, transform the camera trap into an index of interactions in which life-forms move in slippage with relation to media forms, a blurring of movement and enclosures that exceeds the human intention and algorithmic intelligence of the camera’s design. Rather than regarding sensor data as merely a technological effect, what the bycatch reveals is the intense symbiosis of life-forms and forms of media. These close encounters reframe the camera trap not only as an object with material dimensions but also as an emerging assemblage alighted with possibilities that set into motion new processes that both define and trouble the design of the trap."(346)
